There
are two kinds of attorneys in the world of litigation: litigators,
who focus on the pre-trial aspects of the lawsuit, never
expecting that the case will actually have to be tried;
and trial lawyers, who work, plan, and prepare for a trial
of the case on the merits. We pride ourselves on being trial
lawyers. That does not mean we don't settle cases. We do.
We are ready to try the case, however, if a favorable settlement
is not obtained. Our trial experience has proven to us that
lawyers who prepare for trial achieve better results than
those who prepare for settlement.
A distinguishing feature of our firm is that all shareholders
have substantial trial experience, especially before juries.
Our extensive trial experience, not simply litigation experience,
greatly enhances our ability to evaluate a case, develop
it in a manner that will appeal to a judge and jury, and
ultimately go to trial with the confidence and expertise
that only comes with actual trial experience. We have tried
many lengthy and complex cases. We have won many of those
cases. We have lost some of those cases. We are not afraid
to try cases.
With experience comes wisdom and judgment, which we bring
to bear on every case we handle. Martindale Hubbell has
given our firm an AV rating, the highest peer ranking available.
Our attorneys have argued over 240 appellate cases. To
see a listing of the reported decisions in which our attorneys
have been involved, please click
here. This list of reported cases includes all cases
in which we have been involved, not just those in which
we clearly have been victorious. These reported cases, though
representing a very small percentage of cases we have handled,
offer a glimpse into the experience we offer.
Our trial practice includes litigation in all states in
the southeast as well as other parts of the country. Our
attorneys are admitted to practice before the United States
Supreme Court, the United States Courts of Appeal for the
4th, 5th and 11th Circuits, the United States Court of Claims,
the Northern, Middle, and Southern Districts of Georgia,
and all Georgia state trial and appellate courts. Our attorneys
also are admitted to practice in a number of other states
and federal courts across the country.
