Ken
came to our firm in September, 2005, with extensive experience
in the areas of domestic and international franchise transactions,
intellectual property, corporate finance and mergers and
acquisitions. Having been a corporate lawyer since 1980,
Ken was the managing partner of his own law firm in Atlanta
from 1993 until August, 2005. From 1993 until 2003, Ken
served as Vice President, Assistant General Counsel and
Assistant Secretary of AFC Enterprises, Inc., a multi-concept
restaurant franchisor with 4000+ restaurants, bakeries and
cafes in the United States and approximately 40 countries
around the world. Ken has also served as Senior Vice President
and General Counsel of Restaurant Systems International
in New York City (1984 - 1993) and as Special Counsel to
the New York State Legislature (1981 - 1983).
Ken received his undergraduate degree from Michigan State
University (1976) and his Juris Doctor from the Thomas M.
Cooley Law School (1980). He is a member of the New York
and Georgia Bars, the American Bar Association, and the
International Bar Association; he has served on the Nominating
Committee of the ABA Forum on Franchising (1998), the International
Legislative Action Group of the International Franchise
Association (1998-1999), and as Director of the Corporate
Counsel Division of the ABA Forum on Franchising (1998-2000).
Ken is the author and/or co-author of the following articles:
