Jonathan
came to the firm in September, 2003, after serving as an
Assistant District Attorney in the six-county Toombs Judicial
Circuit. At Casey Gilson, his primary focus is on
civil litigation, where his extensive trial experience as
a prosecutor is beneficial.
Jonathan was born in May, 1974 in DeKalb County, Georgia,
where he graduated from Tucker High School. In 1992, he
left the Atlanta area to attend the University of Georgia
in Athens. He graduated from the University of Georgia in
1996, receiving a Bachelor of Arts Degree in history and
German. Jonathan then returned to Atlanta to attend Emory
University School of Law, where he obtained his Doctor of
Law degree in 1999. During law school, Jonathan interned
for Presiding Judge William LeRoy McMurray, Jr. of the Georgia
Court of Appeals, the United States Attorney’s Office
for the Northern District of Georgia, and the United States
Trustee’s Office for Region 21.
After law school, Jonathan moved to his family’s
farm in Wilkes County, Georgia, where he began his legal
career as law clerk to Chief Judge E. Purnell Davis and
Judge Roger W. Dunaway, Jr., of the Superior Courts of the
Toombs Judicial Circuit. After his clerkship, he was appointed
Assistant District Attorney for the Toombs Judicial Circuit
by District Atttorney Dennis C. Sanders. In this position,
Jonathan prosecuted hundreds of criminal cases on behalf
of the State of Georgia, primarily in McDuffie, Taliaferro
and Wilkes Counties.
Jonathan has been a member of the State Bar of Georgia
since 1999 and is a member of the general trial practice
and government lawyer sections. He is admitted to practice
before the Supreme Court of Georgia, the Georgia Court of
Appeals, the U.S. District Court for the Northern District
of Georgia, and the Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals.
He is married to Samantha Granade of Augusta, Georgia.
They have one daughter.
