Jim Gilson has been named one of Georgia's "Legal Elite" by Georgia Trend Magazine. He has been recognized for many years as a Georgia Super Lawyer.
Jim's success in the courtroom and his proactive approach to minimizing his clients’ litigation exposure has resulted in long-term client relationships based on trust and confidence. He is our firm’s managing shareholder.
Jim’s trial practice includes products liability, toxic torts, wrongful death and other catastrophic personal injury cases. He has extensive experience trying high-exposure tort cases and defending mass tort litigation claims. His experience includes numerous successful trial results in both state and federal courts in Georgia and Texas. Additionally, he has represented clients in cases filed in South Carolina, North Carolina, Virginia, Kentucky, Maryland and Arkansas. Jim has spoken at several national legal seminars.
After graduating from high school in Gwinnett County, Georgia, Jim attended Southern Methodist University, receiving a Bachelor of Arts Degree cum laude and a Bachelor of Business Administration Degree cum laude. He then was awarded a Hatton W. Sumners full scholarship to Southern Methodist University School of Law where he received his J.D. While in law school, Jim received the Barristers Award as the outstanding student in his class and was awarded the Order of Barristers for outstanding achievement in oral advocacy. He was a finalist in the National Moot Court Competition and competed in multiple national and state moot court and mock trial competitions. Additionally, Jim was on the Journal of Air Law and Commerce, serving as a Notes and Comments Editor.
Jim began his trial practice with a large Dallas, Texas law firm, concentrating in commercial litigation. Jim then returned to Georgia where he and Bob Casey founded our firm in 1990.
Jim is admitted to practice in the states of Georgia and Texas. He is a member of numerous federal district courts, the United States Courts of Appeal for the Eleventh Circuit, and the United States Supreme Court.
